Lumbar Support System

As many of you are aware, Morning Pride by Honeywell in the past experimented with lumbar support systems in pants but abondoned the idea because of the inherently stressful nature of a pant placed lumbar system. This is the case since pants are always held close to the body. This means that even when a pants placed lumbar support system was deactivated, it stayed close to the body and continued to trap body heat.

We eventually recognized, in contrast, with a coat placed system we could retain the advantages of a "float away from the body" system that did not retain heat when the lumbar system was not being utilized.

We are pleased to announce our coat based system is commercially ready. You can purchase this new system in a variety of manners.

This is the interior of a coat prepared to receive the Lumbar Belt. The center strip is pile velcro (not hook which would irritate your back and potentially pill your shirt when coat was worn without the lumbar in place.) The two strips on either side of the pile are elastic pieces covered with Nomex knit. This pictures shows the coat with belt in place. Morning Pride by Honeywell has received a patent on the concept of integrating a Lumbar Support belt into the linings of a fire garment. We believe this "next to the body" placement of the belt is critical to delivering proper support (separating the belt from the body with bulky liners that bunch when the belt is engaged, makes no sense). Also compressing the liners (as a belt outside them does) often reduces the insulative performance of the system.
